These might be formal (such as narrative or dialogue), thematic (novels of manners, autobiography, gothic fiction), stylistic (a peculiar kind of diction, stanza, or imagery), rhetorical end (praise, ridicule, instruction) or principle of organization (essay, magazine, treatise). |
